Katie Soulard (a student at California State University at Chico) wrote in her final report: " The love and hospitality I received while in Mali will forever be ingrained into my being, my soul and my heart. I know that I made some lifelong friends who are more like family than anything. I have experienced some things, seen some emotions, for the first time. All of which have made me a stronger, more assertive  person who knows better now how to stand up for herself."
